We are seeking an experienced animal care professional with a commitment to animal welfare and an awareness of the state government's rehoming mandate. You will be able to provide high quality customer service in a shelter environment whilst providing education and advice to a wide variety of customers.The Companion Animal Officer role is responsible for:Ensuring the efficient management of the Tamworth Regional Council Companion Animal Facilities by caring for the animals, which includes carrying out daily routine checks, cleaning and feeding, and microchip implantation.Encouraging responsible pet ownership and adoption by advising customers, assisting with special events such as Healthy Pet Day and preparing, supporting and presenting educational programs which support the objectives of the Division.Participating in school and interest group tours and talks as appropriate.Managing Council's Companion Animal Facility Facebook page.Maintaining and updating accurate records of all facility operations and processes.Addressing all customer queries and complaints received in Council's corporate systems.Participating in all identified training and development activities within agreed timeframes.Contributing to staff meetings/team talks and maintaining a focus on the continual improvement of business processes within the division.TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED Qualifications in Animal Studies, Companion Animal Services or similar (or equivalent relevant experience).Understanding of the Companion Animals Act and Regulation including experience in investigating breaches.Commitment to animal welfare and the rehoming of all adoptable companion animals.Experience promoting and delivering Companion Animal Services including educating the community about responsible pet ownership.Experience in microchip implanting.Candidates with a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing will be highly regarded.INTERESTED?
