The Team Leader - School Counsellor role is an outreach position in the North of Tasmania. This role is for 0.8 fixed term hours for up to 12 months maternity leave cover.
The School Counselling program, partners with Primary and Secondary Catholic Schools across Tasmania, to deliver therapeutic, child-focused counselling to students. Students seeking counselling may be experiencing a broad range of issues such as social relationship difficulties, family separation, anxiety, behavioural difficulties, family violence or other forms of trauma.

What will you do?
· Provision of one to one clinical supervision, peer group clinical supervision, ad hoc ‘case’ consultation and debriefing as necessary to all members of the CatholicCare School Counselling team.
· Develop and maintain good professional working relationships with all members of the team and with the broader CatholicCare Teams and Schools.
* Provision of child focused, therapeutic counselling to students, using developmentally appropriate evidenced based models of intervention.
* Provide therapeutic counselling and group work activities in collaboration with other CatholicCare staff and/ or in conjunction with other organisations.
* Regularly liaise with Parents, Teachers, Vice Principal(s) and Principal(s).
* Conduct thorough intake processes with parent/carer or relevant guardian to gain information, listen to concerns, and encourage active involvement
* Provide students with opportunities to actively participate in establishing goals relevant to interventions and, make appropriate referrals to external sources if required.
What can you bring to us?
· Demonstrated ability and experience in providing clinical supervision, consultation and debriefing to professional employees regarding direct service delivery.
· Demonstrated ability and experience in providing ‘leadership’ to human services professional teams in a manner that highlights flexibility, creativity and integration.
· Comprehensive understanding and focus upon Quality Assurance and Evaluation processes, including strong understanding or relevant legal and statutory obligations.
* Demonstrated experience and training in therapeutic counselling for children and young people, including a sound understanding of the principles and theories that underpin the impact of family violence on women, children, men and family functioning.
* Demonstrated experience in working autonomously, exercising considerable initiative, discretion and professional judgement and accept personal responsibility within the full scope of the role.
* Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology or related discipline, post graduate qualifications will be highly regarded; and/or a minimum of 3+ years’ experience in a similar role
* Current Working with Vulnerable People registration.
