Hays Property and Surveyor are seeking an Estates Project Manager / Building Surveyor to join a large privately owned estate based in Dorset. The organisation is a large privately owned Estate located in the Dorset and New Forest area. With a rich history, the Estate holds a large and diverse number of property interests, including commercial lettings, such as hotels and offices, residential lettings, holiday accommodation, solar farms, land, licences and grazing agreements. Alongside these interests is an in-house team of property and estate management professionals who support with the efficient and effective management of the portfolio, ensuring it performs to its maximum potential and return. As part of the ongoing growth of the team and the Estate, they are now looking to appoint an experienced and motivated Estates Project Manager / Building Surveyor. The role will be based across the estate within Dorset and the New Forest, splitting your time between the office, on-site and at home. Your new role As the Estates Project Manager / Building Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing a variety of property related construction projects across the Estate, including refurbishments, planned maintenance and reactive works. The range of projects will vary in nature and size but, for example, may consist of hotel and residential refurbishments, holiday let conversions, office fit-outs, minor repairs and PPM work programmes. You will be responsible for managing each project from inception to completion, whilst engaging with key internal stakeholders and external parties. Key responsibilities may include: Manage a diverse range of building and project work, including refurbishment schemes, reactive and planned maintenance. Preparation of specifications, tendering and ensuring regulatory compliance. Provide oversight and management in the strategy and plans for upcoming projects in close liaison with the Estate team. Selection and appointment of project suppliers and contractors. Maintain project plans with clear timescales and budgets. Provide regular visibility and feedback to key stakeholders via project updates and progress reporting. Provide information and building reports for influencing the budgeting process. Preparation and scheduling of planned maintenance programs. Provide reactive maintenance with an ability to resolve matters quickly. What you'll need to succeed Hold a degree in a relevant discipline, such as Construction, Building Surveying, etc. Proven experience of working in a similar role as an Estates Project Manager / Building Surveyor. Experience project managing a variety of building works and construction related projects from inception to completion. Preferably hold experience of working within a client side environment. Proficient in preparing work specifications, building contracts, tenders and cost planning. Experience of managing planned maintenance and reactive works. Strong understanding of Health and Safety and Compliance. Excellent communication skills and stakeholder engagement.
