Position PurposeThe FFT-CW Family Therapist provides family therapy using the FFT-CW model as part of a dedicated team, working closely with families referred through the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) due to child protection concerns. The primary goal is to support families in reducing risks and preventing the need for Out-of-Home Care (OOHC) placements for children.Key ResponsibilitiesAssess and manage family risk ethically, adhering to mandatory reporting laws and management guidance to reduce child protection risk in the family home.Work respectfully and collaboratively with Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) families, showing awareness of their unique needs and challenges.Review referral information, identify key participants, and understand clinical needs to develop a tailored Behavioural Change Plan. Engage the family, especially the primary caregiver and children, in active treatment.Develop and implement case conceptualisation, treatment plans, and intervention strategies. Continuously review progress and adjust strategies as needed.Maintain clear and timely documentation of treatment efforts, ensuring compliance with FFT-CW model standards. Complete progress notes within 48 hours and other required documentation.Develop written plans addressing safety risks and referral behaviours tailored to each family's needs.This is a Permanent Full Time opportunity based in Wollongong, NSW within our Out of Home Care program. The position reports to the Family Therapist Supervisor.Key Selection CriteriaA Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Aboriginal Health Work, Community Welfare, or a Master's in Counselling.Post-graduate training in child, adolescent, and family clinical practice or family therapy is highly preferred.Clinical experience working with families and adolescents is strongly preferred.Proven ability to manage complex family dynamics and child protection concerns.Strong interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and excellent engagement skills.Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including DCJ, other agencies, and the community.Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture, values, and current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people, and their families.Please address the full Key Selection Criteria outlined in the PD as part of your application.For a full position listing, please click APPLY.
