Job description: The position of Remedial Massage Therapist oversees the assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of clients experiencing musculoskeletal pain, tension, and movement restrictions. This role involves applying specialized massage techniques to promote healing, improve mobility, and enhance overall well-being. The therapist will work closely with clients to develop personalized treatment plans and provide expert guidance on injury prevention, posture correction, and self-care practices. Tasks Include: Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients' medical history, symptoms, musculoskeletal and orthopedic conditions, as well as relevant information provided by Chinese medicine practitioners and acupuncturists, to determine the appropriate massage therapies. Administer a variety of massage therapies and techniques, including Deep Tissue, Sports, Aromatherapy, Reflexology, TCM remedial massage, joint mobilization, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, stretching therapy, and heat or ice therapy, tailored to address client needs. Provide treatments to alleviate muscle tension and pain, improve circulation, reduce early-onset muscle soreness, and support rehabilitation, facilitating movement and promoting overall well-being. Guide patients in improving posture, strengthening, stretching, and relaxation techniques to support their ongoing health and recovery. Utilize additional therapeutic methods, such as cupping, acupressure, essential oils, dry needling, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS), and movement-based therapies, to enhance the effectiveness of treatments. Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting treatments, client responses, and progress, and provide these records for referrals to Chinese Medicine Practitioners when needed. Perform clinic responsibilities, including maintaining treatment rooms in a professional and sanitary condition, stocking products and linens, cleaning, instrument sterilization, and replacing massage linens as necessary. Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to stay updated on the latest remedial massage techniques, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology in collaboration with Chinese medicine practitioners and acupuncturists. Offer consultations to clients regarding remedial massage treatments, addressing concerns and recommending personalised therapy plans to enhance their recovery and overall health outcomes. The skills required for this position are: At least a Diploma of Remedial Massage or related fields with at least 1 year of relevant experience. Strong hands-on skills and knowledge of remedial massage techniques to assess and treat musculoskeletal conditions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to understand client needs and explain treatment plans. Ability to adapt treatments based on individual client conditions and provide appropriate aftercare advice.
