REQUIRED SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS:
You are required to have an AQF (or equivalent) Certificate IV and at least 1 year of relevant full-time work experience. At least 3 years of relevant full-time work experience may substitute for the formal qualification.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a Plumber, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems, fixtures, and related components within residential, commercial, and/or industrial buildings. You will work to ensure compliance with building codes, safety standards, and relevant legislation.
POSITION DUTIES:
1. Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems for water distribution, wastewater disposal, and gas supply.
2. Install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings, including water supply, drainage, gas, and septic systems.
3. Work with a variety of plumbing materials and tools, including pipes, valves, fittings, and pumps.
4. Install plumbing fixtures such as sinks, bathtubs, toilets, and water heaters.
5. Fit and install pipework, fixtures, and fittings in new residential and commercial construction projects.
6. Install and maintain water treatment systems, drainage systems, and stormwater management piping.
7. Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine plumbing system layouts.
8. Test plumbing systems for leaks and ensure proper functioning.
9. Conduct testing and commissioning of plumbing systems to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
10. Diagnose faults in existing plumbing systems and carry out required repairs.
11. Identify and fix leaks, blockages, and other plumbing issues in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.
12. Perform preventative maintenance to ensure the longevity and efficiency of plumbing systems.
13. Install, repair, and maintain septic systems, including tanks and drainage fields.
14. Conduct inspections and servicing of septic and wastewater management systems.
15. Ensure plumbing systems and components meet all required standards and regulations.
16. Perform regular maintenance on plumbing systems and fixtures.
17. Ensure installations and repairs meet safety and environmental protection requirements.
18. Apply relevant plumbing codes and standards to all work.
19. Administer and schedule work, including coordinating and reviewing tenders, pricing, and delivery.
20. Coordinate project handovers to site contacts, if applicable.
21. Ensure timely processing of quotes and follow up with suppliers for the best pricing.
22. Liaise with the Office Manager regarding customer accounts and quotes.
23. Adhere to workplace health and safety regulations and ensure compliance with the building codes, installation requirements, and legislation.
24. Test and install backflow prevention devices and ensure plumbing systems meet required safety standards.
25. Work in physically demanding environments, including lifting materials, working in confined spaces, and being exposed to varying weather conditions.
26. Follow safety protocols when using tools and machinery and travel between job sites as needed.
SALARY:
$35-$40 per hour based on experience.
