CEO (CEO & General Management)Government - State (Government & Defence) Do you want your work to make a difference for NSW?Leading the way on Climate Change for NSWKey role leading the Office of the Net Zero CommissionMake a lasting impact on how NSW transitions to a net zero futureParramatta location preferred | Flexible working options availableBand 2 Executive Level: TRP commencing from $288,534The Net Zero Commission is currently seeking to appoint an Executive Director to lead the Office of the Net Zero Commission, working closely with the Commissioners and Chair in providing an important role in the governance of NSW climate change mitigation policies including by providing independent expert advice to the NSW Government on its approach to addressing climate change and driving the monitoring, reviewing and reporting on NSW's progress towards Net Zero.The Executive Director leads the work of a dedicated multi-disciplinary team and ensures the Commission delivers on its statutory responsibilities (under the Climate Change (Net Zero Future) Act 2023) and manages risk with a high level of professionalism, transparency, legal robustness and timeliness.This is an exciting and unique opportunity for a senior policy leader who can provide the necessary leadership and drive to ensure a high performing Office — supporting the Commission to deliver analysis and advice that will help shape NSW's transition to a net zero future and adapt to climate change.About YouThis role requires an experienced leader who can provide high level leadership and direction to the Office of the Net Zero Commission. You will need to leverage your executive leadership skills to steer collaboration and engagement across DCCEEW, the NSW Government, and external stakeholders to support the preparation of high quality, high impact reports and communication material. You will also ensure robust internal processes and governance procedures.Key knowledge and experience:Relevant senior leadership experience to support the delivery of high-quality advice and recommendations across a complex technical, economic and social issues.Experience leading a function that proactively identify risks and opportunities for impact and engages effectively with internal and external stakeholders on sensitive policy issues.Proven high level experience in successfully leading multi-disciplinary teams developing advice within complex legislative and regulatory frameworks.Experienced in setting effective budget, process and resourcing strategies to successfully deliver measurable operational outcomes within a dynamic operating environment.Demonstrated track record of positive leadership to build a high performing and innovative culture with a team of up to 7 direct and 25 indirect reportsDegree qualification in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent relevant experience at a senior executive level.DCCEEW conserves and protects the state's natural environment. It manages the NSW national park estate, including its rich and diverse biodiversity and Aboriginal cultural heritage for future generations.DCCEEW also ensures sustainable management of water resources across the state, to support the environment, communities and industry.Who are we: The CommissionThe Net Zero Commission (the Commission) was established as an independent advisory body under Part 3 of the Climate Change (Net Zero Future) Act 2023 in December 2023 and commenced operations in July 2024.The Commission's role is to:monitor, review and report on the State's progress towards its primary and interim emissions reduction targets and the adaptation objective,provide independent, expert advice on NSW's approach to addressing climate change,provide recommendations to the Minister for Climate Change on plans or policies to meet the interim and primary targets and the adaptation objective,educate and inform the NSW Government, businesses, organisations, and individuals on ways to promote action to address climate change.The Commission is made up of a Chair and up to seven Commissioners. It operates independently and is accountable to the NSW Parliament. The Commission is supported by a standalone unit (the Office of the Net Zero Commission) in the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW).
