Introduction: The Catholic Schools Office is seeking a Casual (12 hours per fortnight) Assistant Design Director for ASPIRE to join the team from February 2025. With an emphasis on fostering creativity, the ASPIRE program offers a large number of initiatives including in-school workshops, performance support, professional development for staff, and special projects in areas such as songwriting, scriptwriting, devising theatre, and choreography. ASPIRE also creates an original production each year through which students can audition to be a part of dance, design, drama, musical, and production ensembles. Description: POSITION DESCRIPTION Support the design director in leading the design ensemble in realizing set and costume elements for the production. Main duties include: Working with the Design Ensemble to create and realize set and costumes. Collaborating with the ASPIRE Creative Team for the ASPIRE production and other ASPIRE initiatives. Skills and Experiences: EXPERIENCE/CRITERIA Ability to articulate a clear understanding of and a personal commitment to Catholic education through Catholic schools. Experience working with young people. Understanding of design theory and creating a design brief for theatre. Experience of set and/or costume design for theatrical production. Ability to work as part of a creative team. Problem-solving skills. Strong communication skills. QUALIFICATIONS Current paid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) number. Tertiary qualification or equivalent in design/visual art. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Salary is in accordance with the Catholic Schools Office Maitland-Newcastle Agreement 2019.
