Job Category: Information & Communication TechnologyJob DescriptionYour new roleAs the Cyber Defence Engineer at Commonwealth Superannuation Corporation (CSC) you will play an important role in operating and enhancing CSC's cybersecurity services, ensuring the protection of financial and information assets.
This position sits within a team of specialists, focusing on key areas such as Incident Response, SIEM Engineering, Security Engineering, Application Security, Vulnerability Management, Threat Intelligence and Security Awareness.Please note – we are open to candidates across Australia who meet the hiring criteria below.Key ResponsibilitiesConducting cyber incident response activities, including investigation, remediation, root cause analysis, and security incident reportingDeveloping and refining cyber detection use cases, analysing security data for anomalies and enhancing detection capabilities using frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CKBuilding automated incident response workflows using SIEM platforms like Splunk or Sentinel, streamlining triage and incident handling to improve efficiency and response timesMonitoring and assessing security threats to CSC and its customers while collaborating with government and industry information-sharing groupsSupporting audit and regulatory compliance efforts by addressing security findings and implementing recommendationsDeveloping and maintaining cybersecurity documentation, including processes, procedures, and technical reportsThis role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic cybersecurity environment, leveraging automation and intelligence to strengthen CSC's security defences.
If you have a passion for cybersecurity and a drive to enhance security operations, we encourage you to apply.Desired Skills and ExperienceWhat you'll need to excelYou must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident – a security clearance is highly regarded but not mandatoryTertiary qualifications in Cyber Security, Computer Science or a related discipline, essential5+ years' experience in Cyber Security Operations, including but not limited to: Incident Response, Detection Engineering, SIEM Engineering, or Security Automation etcGood scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShellKnowledge of multiple security frameworks such as NIST, PSPF, CSF, OWASP, ASD E8Enterprise implementation and operation of security technologies such as: Identity and Access Management, End Point Protection, DDoS Protection, Data Loss PreventionSecurity compliance in financial and government environments e.g.
