Your new company The Motor Accidents Insurance Board (MAIB) is a Tasmanian Government Business Enterprise which operates Tasmania's personal injury motor accident insurance scheme. The MAIB supports people recovering from or living with injuries which result from motor accidents by providing benefits, rehabilitation, lifetime support, and common law rights. Your new role The Chief Operating Officer (COO) reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), providing high-level leadership and oversight of claims, administration, and corporate services. This ensures the needs of MAIB claimants are met and contributes to a sustainable compulsory third-party motor insurance scheme for Tasmanians. The primary responsibility for the role is to lead the claims and administration operations of the business while driving the delivery of excellent customer services, guiding and developing the relevant leadership team members, and inspiring all staff. What you'll need to succeed You will be an authentic, contemporary, and hands-on leader, client-centric with a genuine care for people. With extensive operational experience and a track record in driving excellent client service and best practices in claims, administration, and corporate management, you will have a strong focus on continuous improvement in processes and operations. The ideal candidate will have: A background in Insurance, Human Services (Aged Care, NDIS, etc.), or aligned industries An understanding of how MAIB functions Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (Insurance, Business, Health, Social Science/Policy, or other relevant disciplines) and/or extensive senior management qualifications and experience What you need to do now A remuneration package that reflects the importance of the role will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
