DHA was established in 1988 following the passage of the Defence Housing Australia Act 1987 (DHA Act) to provide adequate and suitable housing for, and housing related services to, members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and their families. We remain committed to our purpose of providing housing, and housing related services, to ADF members and their families to support Defence's operational needs.
Our Portfolio
We manage an expanding portfolio of housing solutions and provide housing for over 17,200 ADF members and their families, as well as administering rent allowance for more than 16,000 ADF members and their families in private rental accommodation. Additionally, we provide housing related services, including advising on eligibility, providing posting support, and managing bookings and allocation services for all DHA provisioned housing and on-base accommodation to approximately 60,000 ADF members.

About Your Team
The Governance and Communication Branch is responsible for instilling and continually reinforcing a corporate culture of acting lawfully, ethically and responsibly in accordance with DHA's legislative requirements and overarching governance framework. They also foster relationships with and deliver quality service to DHA customers and stakeholders, and guide and influence risk-based decision-making throughout the organisation.
The Role
The Director of Strategic Governance & Chief Risk Officer reports to the General Manager, Governance and Communication and leads a small team responsible for DHA's risk management, business continuity, internal audit, compliance management, quality management, corporate policy, and insurance.
Key Responsibilities
* Guiding and influencing risk-based decision-making across DHA.
* Leading a team to design, implement and embed fit-for-purpose risk management strategies.
* Collaborating across DHA to identify innovation and business improvement activities.
