About Research Services
Research Services is responsible for providing integrated business and research management support for researchers and research activity across the University. The team have a strong focus on research strategy and development, income generation and ethical review.
The Opportunity
Are you passionate about driving research excellence and fostering innovation? Western’s Office of Research Services is seeking an experienced and qualified Research Development Officer to join the team focusing on the Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) disciplines. In this role you will work closely with academic staff in these vital fields to promote, advise on and drive successful grant applications, diversify funding sources and contribute to achieving external research income targets. Your responsibilities will span a wide range of activities, emphasising growth and quality.
The Research Development Officer will establish strong connections with external funding bodies and fellow researchers with the goal of rapidly and sustainably forging partnerships across a diverse spectrum of external agencies. The Research Development Officer will deep dive into the needs, potential of our researchers and the aims of our research strategy. You’ll provide expert advice on submission writing, foster academic collaboration, build and enhance knowledge of the research sector. In this role you will drive sector-leading processes and quality assurance mechanisms.
This is a full-time ongoing position based at Penrith Campus, although travel to other campuses of the University may be required.

About You
You will be a qualified professional with a degree and relevant experience in the Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) disciplines. You will have substantial experience in research support and development, showcasing your ability to enhance academic initiatives and foster collaborative projects. Your expertise in managing research funding opportunities, coupled with your ability to read, critique, and write complex funding documentation, is essential. Your high-level problem-solving skills, exceptional interpersonal, communication, and negotiation abilities, and proficiency with research-related databases enable you to take initiative and work independently. We value innovative thinkers who can navigate complex research environments and contribute effectively to the team.

Remuneration Package: HEW Level 7 $121,056 to $130,572 p.a. (comprising Salary of $102,294 to $110,335 p.a., plus Superannuation and Leave Loading)
