The Tasmanian State Service (TSS) is the largest employer in Tasmania, with over 28,000 employees providing services to the Tasmanian community at all levels.
The Mental Health Hospital in the Home (MHHITH) is a virtual ward of the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) providing acute care for patients at their residence as a substitute for in-hospital acute care. MHHITH is a 7 day a week service providing equivalent care to admitted hospital patients with care provided by a multidisciplinary team.
The Role:
Registered nurses (RNs) on the team work a 7 day rotating roster, with shifts from 0830 to 1700, and 1400 to 2230. They provide mental health assessments, thorough observations, care planning, and clinical risk management.
You will need:
* Current knowledge and experience in and the ability to apply nursing principles and procedures in the delivery of consumer care in acute adult mental health in line with legal requirements and the ANMC competency standards for the Registered Nurse.
* Knowledge and understanding of the psychosocial and health needs of individuals and their application to nursing practice in the acute adult mental health setting, including an understanding of the principles of maintaining appropriate therapeutic relationships with consumers.
* Sound knowledge of psychotropic drugs, actions, and side effects.

Details of appointment:
Fixed term full time, shift worker (fully rotational) position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of approximately fifteen (15) months.
*Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $78,179 to $105,995 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
* Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
Access to the Grade 4 salary range $99,455- $105,995 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
* Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type.

* Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
* Current Driver’s Licence.
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
* Possess or be working towards a specialist tertiary graduate or post graduate mental health/psychiatric nursing qualification, or completed prior to the transfer of nurse education to the tertiary sector, a hospital based training program that resulted in previous registration as a psychiatric nurse by the relevant nurse registration authority within Australia.
