About the Opportunity
The Liverpool/Fairfield Infant Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (ICAMHS) is seeking an experienced Senior Mental Health Professional (OT3/SW3/CNS2/Snr Psych/Clinical Psych) to join our passionate team within our Safeguards service. The ICAMHS team provides mental health assessment and intervention to children and young people living with moderate to severe mental illness and their parents/carers in the Liverpool and Fairfield regions.
Safeguards Team
The Safeguards Team provides assertive outreach and support to children and young people, and their families, in both the community and clinic settings and facilitate their engagement with quality mental healthcare; it is a dedicated resource for children and adolescents aged 0-17 years experiencing acute mental health distress. Safeguards is a community-based. 7day/week service which provides rapid, mobile and flexible short-term support to children and young people in the form of mental health assessment, case management and brief, evidence-based therapeutic intervention to resolve mental health crisis. The Safeguards Team model of providing community-based care is uniquely placed to identify and support at-risk children and young people and bridge them with culturally appropriate services provided by both government and non-government agencies, preventing some of the most at-risk youth being lost to mental healthcare and follow-up.
As a clinician you will also work with children and their families to provide wraparound support at home and school, as well as facilitating access to follow-up care and linking them with other appropriate resources, as required. The ability to work a 7-day, rotating roster is required for this role.
What You'll be Doing
As a senior clinician provide leadership, mentorship and supervision, to ensure the delivery of evidence-based, strengths focused, recovery orientated assessment and treatment within a multi-disciplinary team. Carry a clinical caseload, appropriate to the needs of the service.
Where You'll Be Working Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, providing services to the local government area of Liverpool City Council as well as district services to residents and visitors in the area. It also provides a range of state-wide services in areas such as critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care and brain injury rehabilitation.
The Hospital provides a health service of international standing, with 23 operating theatres, capacity for 877 beds, diagnostic and imaging services, emergency and trauma care, maternity, paediatric, cancer care, mental health, ambulatory care, allied health and medical and surgical services from birth to aged care.
Liverpool Hospital is currently undergoing a major redevelopment. The $790 million Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct (LHAP) project will provide enhanced facilities and an increased capacity to meet future significant population growth for South Western Sydney.
Liverpool Hospital is a principal referral and teaching Hospital of the University of NSW and the Western Sydney University and also welcome students from over 20 universities and colleges.

3. Demonstrated experience providing advanced evidence based, strengths focused, recovery orientated assessment and treatment for consumers of the mental health service that is culturally responsive.
4. Demonstrated commitment to the philosophy and practice of consumer’s families and natural supports participating within the treatment process, as appropriate and in accordance with the NSW Mental Health Act 2007.
5. Demonstrated advanced clinical skills and experience working therapeutically with two or more of the following cohorts; Children, young people and families, Complex cases relating to child protection and trauma, Mental illness and or drug and alcohol use and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population.
6. Effective interpersonal skills, problem solving skills and personal resilience.
7. Highly developed written and verbal communication skills and competence in the use of information technology systems.
8. Demonstrated leadership in the planning, implementation and evaluation of local service delivery incorporating the quality improvement process.
9. Ability to work independently and in consultation with the multidisciplinary team.
10. Current unrestricted Australian drivers licence (P2 Licence Acceptable) subject to obtaining NSW drivers licence within 3 months of appointment.
