Primary objective Responsible for Extract Transform Load processes and tools, as well as database loading and manipulation to ensure that the strategic data needs of client agencies are met, focusing on technical solutions designs and deployment. Context statement The Data Warehouse function sits within Data Services and more broadly, the Department of Corporate and Digital Development, Digital Services team. It comprises a number of smaller teams that support different government agencies. Key duties and responsibilities 1. Work in a time critical environment loading extracted source data through the Data Warehouse structure into reporting environments with a very high level of accuracy and the ability to troubleshoot issues that may arise quickly and accurately to support a range of purposes, such as National, Northern Territory (NT) Government, and NT Health reporting obligations, performance measurement, funding, service provision, policy, planning and evaluation. 2. Responsible for maintaining and designing systems used by the Data Warehouse for the provision of reporting data, ad-hoc reporting and analysis for the Department. 3. Respond to feedback and investigate any issues or requests to maintain client confidence, total system integrity and very high data quality. 4. Ensure accuracy and integrity of data through analysis, coding, documentation, risk management and problem resolution. 5. Develop and maintain operational system documentation, training material, end user documentation with the ability to analyse and translate function specifications into technical specifications. 6. Operate with a high level of autonomy to develop and deploy innovative business intelligence solutions to meet complex client requirements. Selection criteria Essential 1. High-level conceptual and analytical skills and ability to resolve complex data problems using innovative solutions. 2. Highly developed written, oral and interpersonal skills and the ability to consult, collaborate and negotiate effectively and strategically with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels. 3. Experience around the management of highly sensitive, large datasets from a number of diverse feeder systems, with an understanding of contemporary techniques and best practice in their deployment and operation. 4. Extract Transform Load (ETL) development skills, including demonstrated experience around its operation, troubleshooting and maintenance. 5. Understanding of Data Warehousing concepts, architecture, software, modelling techniques and implementation. 6. Demonstrated work ethic and attitude which emulates the Department’s values of professionalism, accountability, honesty, innovation, and respectfulness. Desirable 1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in Data related field of study. 2. Demonstrated experience in database programming languages such as Structure Query Language (SQL), as well as an extensive skill set in programmatic debugging and overall problem solving. 3. Demonstrated Experience with one or more of the following enterprise platforms: Oracle, InfoSphere Datastage, or Business Objects. Further information 1.
