Senior Data Officer / Assistant Director, Legal Assistance Branch - Executive Level 1
The Legal Assistance Branch (LAB) contributes to justice outcomes and community safety by supporting access to justice. LAB provides the Government with policy advice on legal assistance and is responsible for Commonwealth programs that support the legal assistance sector to meet the legal needs of the most vulnerable people in Australia. LAB manages the Commonwealth's obligations under the National Legal Assistance Partnership 2020-25 (NLAP), which will soon transition to the National Access to Partnership 2025-30 (NAJP) on 1 July 2025. Under the NAJP, governments have committed to reforms that will build a capable and data-mature legal assistance sector.
The Executive Level 1 Senior Data Officer will contribute to one of the key objectives of the NAJP - ensuring there is meaningful, consistent and accessible legal assistance data essential for governments, the legal assistance sector and the general public.
Key Responsibilities:
In particular, the Senior Data Officer will:
1. Contribute to the development and implementation of data strategies.
2. Ensure data quality and integrity across legal assistance programs.
3. Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance data accessibility.
