This creates value not only for the companies being invested in, but also for the investors backing venture capital funds.The Venture Capital Team works with Industry Innovation and Science Australia's Innovation Investment Committee and the Biomedical Translation Fund Committee to achieve program and policy outcomes.The opportunityThis is an opportunity to work in a high performing team to actively administer the government's venture capital tax concession programs that facilitate investment in innovative and high-growth businesses, develop and implement compliance processes based on a robust risk management framework and lead our engagement and education initiatives.Our ideal candidateWe are seeking members for our leadership team who have:Strong verbal and written communication and stakeholder engagement skills.Analytical and problem-solving mindset with a careful attention to detail.Experience managing and mentoring a diverse team.Ability to balance and prioritise a range of tasks to meet competing deadlines, while remaining flexible and adaptable.What you will doAs The Engagement, Education & Compliance Manager, You Will:Co-administer compliance activities with the ATO for the government's venture capital tax concession programs in adherence to the Venture Capital Act 2002, Pooled Development Funds Act 1992 and Income Tax Assessment Act 1997.Facilitate proactive outreach and education initiatives with key venture capital stakeholders to increase engagement in the venture capital tax concession programs and adherence to the legislated compliance requirements.Manage a team to report and present programme and compliance papers to the Innovation Investment Committee of Industry Innovation and Science Australia.Build capability in a team environment through coaching others, providing performance feedback, conflict resolution and encouraging career development.Using highly developed written and verbal communication to present information clearly, convincingly and in a manner tailored to the audience.Ability to act with integrity, personal accountability, professionalism and use sound judgement in managing a complex, demanding work.Ensure in-depth knowledge of and compliance with legislative, financial and administrative frameworks, government decision-making processes and agency guidelines and regulations.Work within established legislative and policy frameworks.Apply comprehensive work knowledge, precedent and established legislation, policy, procedures and guidelines to situations involving a high level of complexity and sensitivity which require considerable interpretation and analysis.Engage and collaborate with key stakeholders to identify opportunities, achieve outcomes and facilitate cooperation.EligibilityTo be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, candidates must be Australian Citizens.Positions require a Baseline security clearance and successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.NotesThe preferred candidate will have expertise in one or more of the following:Law/accounting/financeCompliance/regulatory activitiesProgram and contract management.Our team is spread across Australia and we welcome applications from candidates outside Canberra where there is a DISR office.A merit pool may be established and used to fill future vacancies within 18 months from the date the vacancy was first advertised in the Gazette.The department does currently offer flexible work opportunities for many roles.
