What will you be doing?
Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration Mechanics (also called Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanics) work with industrial, commercial, and domestic refrigeration, air-conditioning, and heating systems. They are specialists in installing, testing, servicing and repairing these systems. Refrigeration Mechanics also work in a range of settings, from installing air-conditioning systems in homes to building refrigeration units for mass food storage or transport.
Our Host employer is a large, well respected business with commercial and residential clients across South Australia.
This is also a great gateway into gaining a duel trade into Electrotechnology once completing your Refrigeration Apprenticeship.
Personal requirements for a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic
* Able to work with hand and power tools
* Enjoy and have an aptitude for technical work
* Able to work patiently, systematically, and thoroughly
* Normal colour vision
* Able to work as part of a team
* Good communication skills
You will undertake a variety of tasks, including, and not limited to:
* Installing and repairing the components of cooling and refrigeration systems, including compressors, motors, condensers, and evaporators.
* Assess and replace copper lines for steam, gas, refrigerant, compressed air, oil and chilled water.
* Conduct operational tests on refrigeration systems, checking mechanisms and making adjustments.
* Performing preventative maintenance inspections on a variety of installations.
* Evaluating and complying with local and national regulations.
* Carry out fault-finding.
You must be team-oriented and passionate about developing your skills and knowledge.

You may have undertaken a Certificate II in Electrotechnology at school, or already worked in the Electrical industry. Ideally, you will also have:
* the desire to work in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning industry
* punctual and well presented
* take pride in your work

* keen to learn
* very high attention to detail is essential
* read and write to a good standard
* hold a current driver's license (P1, P2, Full)
* your white card and a focus on health and safety
* A positive attitude to new challenges
* Physical fitness with the capacity to bend, kneel, lift and carry materials
