Our facilities will enable plastic waste to be recycled locally and made into new bottles and packaging, rather than ending up in landfill.Job DescriptionAbout this opportunityThe Wastewater Treatment Technician is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment system at our recycled plastic resin manufacturing facilities. This role ensures that all wastewater is treated to meet environmental standards before discharge, contributing to the company's sustainability goals.Your key responsibilities will be to:Operate and monitor wastewater treatment equipment and processes to ensure efficient and effective treatment of wastewater.Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on treatment equipment to ensure continuous operation.Collect and analyse water samples to monitor treatment effectiveness and ensure compliance with environmental regulationsEnsure the appropriate storage, handling, and disposal of all necessary chemicals in line with the relevant safety and environmental protection regulations.Analyse data including chemical analysis, flow rate analysis and other measures to maintain optimal plant performance and ensure regulatory compliance.Maintain accurate records of treatment processes, equipment maintenance, and water quality testing.Your skills and experienceTo be successful in this role, you’ll have:Technical Knowledge: Understanding of wastewater treatment processes, equipment and chemicals.Analytical Skills: Ability to conduct water quality tests and interpret the results to optimise performance.Mechanical Skills: Proficiency in performing routine maintenance and minor repairs on treatment equipment.Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve operational issues.Attention to Detail: Ensuring accuracy in record-keeping and compliance with regulations.QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in environmental science, chemistry, or a related field is preferred.Certificate III in Water Industry Operations (or willingness to obtain certification).Minimum of 2 years of experience in wastewater treatment or a related field.Strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures.
