Job Overview Jensen Hughes is seeking an experienced ESD (Environmental Sustainability Design) Consultant to join our team in Australia. As a leading consultancy firm specializing in sustainable building design and environmental performance, our mission is to create innovative, sustainable solutions that enhance the built environment and contribute to a greener future. As an ESD Consultant with Green Star experience, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality sustainable design solutions for a variety of projects. You will work closely with clients, architects, and engineers to integrate sustainable practices into building designs and achieve Green Star certification. In this role, you will have responsibility for providing timely and effective sustainable design advice and assessments for a wide range of clients. Responsibilities Sustainable Design Consulting: Provide expert advice on sustainable design strategies and best practices to clients and project teams. Green Star Certification: Lead and manage the Green Star certification process for various projects, ensuring compliance with Green Star criteria and guidelines. Project Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of ESD projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget. Technical Analysis: Conduct detailed environmental performance assessments, including energy modeling, daylight analysis, and thermal comfort studies. Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and providing tailored sustainable solutions. Documentation and Reporting: Prepare comprehensive reports, documentation, and presentations to communicate ESD strategies and project outcomes. Training and Development: Mentor junior staff and provide training on sustainable design principles and Green Star requirements. Preparation of Fee Proposals, progress reports and workflow reports to Directors and Managers. Demonstrate an eagerness to research and understand complex issues and to think forward to ramifications of decisions and provide sensible alternate approaches. Requirements and Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Built Environment or a related field. Experience in ESD consulting, with a proven track record in preparing strategy, implementation, and certification of best practice certification schemes, including Living Building Challenge, Green Star, IS ratings, NABERS, and WELL Building Standard. Proficiency in environmental performance software (e.g., Energy Plus, IES VE, Apache HVAC). Excellent project management and organizational skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment. Computer literate, skilled in Microsoft Word and Excel, Microsoft O365, and able to write complex and detailed reports. Fluent in written and spoken English, able to negotiate with approval authorities on recommendations and proposals and capable of developing and maintaining a broad network of people within the industry. Have client management experience and skills, to be further honed through coaching and support. Have a flexible approach to working hours which may include, from time to time, attending meetings after hours or on weekends or overnight travel to attend meetings or inspect buildings, while managing multiple project requirements. Personal drive, results-oriented with a friendly, can-do attitude and a high level of honesty, integrity, commitment and responsibility.
