Role Overview This position manages the relationships and builds the capacity of the region's sport, recreation and community groups.
Within the Property and Open Space business unit, this position will contribute to the delivery of sport and recreation outcomes for the Gympie region. This will be provided through the support of community lessees and facilities in the Gympie Region to enable more people to be more active, more often.
Bachelor Degree in Sport, Recreation and Community or similar discipline or equivalent knowledge/experience Minimum 5 years experience working with sporting organisations and/or community groups An understanding of sports clubs and community groups, with knowledge of club management, administration, and operations. Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders. A team player who excels in collaborative environments, yet also works effectively independently. Ability to adapt to changing circumstances, with a proactive approach to finding solutions. Experience in managing projects and an understanding of community leasing principles and practices preferred. Excellent time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently and prioritise effectively. Queensland 'C' Class driver's licence that is current and maintained. Servicing our sport, recreation and community lessees by being their relationship manager and building their capacity. Supporting these groups through administration, governance and funding opportunities to ensure sustainability and community benefit. Provide advice across council regarding specific needs relating to sport and recreation that will facilitate increased participation rates, including facilities, policies, and programs. Facilitate an internal 'sport and recreation' group as a method of cross council communication. Assisting in the planning for future development of sport, recreation and community facilities, through facility usage, membership and operations. Contributing to the delivery and sustainability of sport and recreation opportunities and facilities in the Gympie Region to enable more people to be more active, more often. Successful working relationships is critical with this position, through liaison with a wide range of Gympie Regional Council officers, Councillors, general public, sporting organisations, government agencies and most importantly, the sport, recreation and community lessees. Work with council's Grants Officer to source external funding for the development of Council sport facilities. Work with council's Grants Officer to source external funding for sport, recreation and physical activity programs and partnerships that result in positive and measurable outcomes for the region. Implement and facilitate an external 'Gympie Region Sport and Recreation Reference Group' as a method of communication between Council and our sporting bodies.
