A leading voice and trusted source for 20 years, BodySoul is a rapidly growing multi-platform brand that includes a national print product appearing every weekend in The Sunday Telegraph (NSW), Herald Sun (VIC), Sunday Mail (QLD and SA) and Sunday Tasmanian. We are looking for a smart, proactive journalist tapped into the latest developments and main players in health, wellness and fitness, both globally and locally. You will bring your outstanding writing skills, professional networks, newsroom insights, passion for news/health, and strong editorial experience to this exciting full-time role, ensuring BodySoul breaks stories, drives conversation and sets the national health agenda. About the role: Research, produce and write timely, news-based content for BodySoul ’s weekly print product, and for our online platform as required Build relationships with key industry contacts, stakeholders, experts, talent and PRs to guarantee exclusives and unique/breaking news stories and interviews. Monitor national and international news outlets daily, and pitch trending news and feature stories relevant to a mass consumer audience, demonstrating a strong understanding of why these stories matter and how they will translate across print and digital channels. Maintain a pipeline of strong, timely, news-based stories across BodySoul ’s key editorial pillars, including physical and mental health, wellness, fitness, nutrition, sex and relationships. Interview key talent, sources and experts for news-based features, crafting smart, service-driven journalism with a positive, engaging and personality-packed tone of voice. Hit the ground running every day, scouring the internet, social media and the real world for ideas, leads and stories Pitch talent and ideas with a strong news hook for covers, profiles and editorial content, ensuring BodySoul helps drive and shape the national health and wellness conversation. Who are you? Someone with strong experience in journalism (ideally in a national newspaper, newsroom or digital environment) and a passion for health, wellness, news and breaking trends. An exceptional news and features writer with three to five years’ experience in a similar role, and an innate understanding of the unfolding stories, topics and major breakthroughs that will appeal to the BodySoul audience An ability to unearth fresh, exciting and original news stories weekly, and write thought-provoking long and short-form features, plus opinion pieces when required A wealth of innovative, news-led health and wellbeing ideas, with a gift for writing clever, clickable, attention-grabbing heads and sells that engage our audience immediately Extensive health, wellness and fitness contacts (including experts, PRs, brands, advocacy groups and talent) and the ability to regularly expand that list with new and unexpected sources, talent and leads.
