OBD Systems is now looking to recruit a Motor Mechanic to join our dedicated and professional service team on a full-time and permanent basis.
Responsibility: Maintains, tests and repairs petrol engines and the mechanical parts of lightweight motor vehicles such as transmissions, suspension, steering and brakes.
Registration or licensing may be required.
Duties: Diagnostics & Repair: Accurately diagnose and repair faults in diesel engines and related components.
Dismantle, repair, and reassemble engines, transmissions, and other mechanical systems.
Utilize diagnostic tools and computer systems for effective troubleshooting.
Maintenance & Service: Perform scheduled maintenance, including oil changes, lubrications, and engine tune-ups.
Ensure compliance with pollution regulations and maintain optimal vehicle performance.
Quality & Safety: Maintain a clean and safe workshop environment.
Conduct thorough quality control checks and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
Monitor and maintain the condition of tools and equipment Leadership & Training: Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to apprentices and junior technicians.
Offer technical guidance and support for complex diagnostic tasks.
Field Work: Undertake field assignments, which may involve periods away from home.
Documentation & Reporting: Refer to service manuals as needed.
May inspect vehicles and issue roadworthiness certificates or detail work required to achieve roadworthiness.
Qualifications: AQF Certificate IV or at least three years of relevant experience AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years' experience as a Level 2 R7 technician or in a similar role within the light vehicle maintenance industry.
Proven expertise in diagnosing, servicing, and repairing petrol and diesel engines, including adherence to safety and quality control procedures.
