We currently have an exciting opportunity in our Life & Health subsidiary in Sydney which plays a major part in the success of Hannover Re globally.
We are seeking a Claims Assessor to join our Claims team. The role will be a maternity cover position reporting directly to our Claims Assessment Manager.
About the role As a Claims Assessor you will be responsible for ensuring that all claims are promptly assessed in line with the terms and conditions of the relevant insurance contract.
Duties and Responsibilities: Managing Group and Retail claims portfolios (Income Protection, Total and Permanent Disablement, Trauma, Terminal Illness and Death) Responding to requests for reviews from the insured and their representatives or Superannuation Fund Trustees and their administrators on claim decisions Participating in internal claims forums to discuss complex cases. Liaising with internal and external parties (e.g. Treating Medical Practitioners, Independent Medical Examiners, Rehabilitation Providers, Investigators, Underwriters, Chief Medical Officer etc.) In conjunction with leader and team, continue to improve ways of working that remove waste, duplication and risk to improve team, customer and business outcomes Contribute to keeping business processes up to date You come equipped with Experience & Qualifications:
Advanced level excel skills Minimum 3 years of technical knowledge of Direct / Group life insurance. Desirable ANZIIF / ALUCA qualifications Experience in the application of legislation and regulatory requirements (e.g. Insurance Contracts Act, LICOP, RG271) Excellent organisation, attention to detail and ability to prioritise effectively Clear and effective communication both written and verbal Strong analytical and problem solving skills It is a requirement that all applicants have unlimited rights to work in Australia i.e. must either be an Australian citizen or have permanent residency.
