Your new role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Civil Engineer (RPEQ Qualified) to join Council as a pivotal leader in the planning, management, and delivery of construction projects across the region. In this role, you will:
* Collaborate with the leadership team to effectively manage engineering projects and ensure they exceed standards and legislative requirements.
* Lead the preparation of project plans and budgets while optimising designs to reduce operating costs.
* Build strong relationships with internal teams, stakeholders, and community members to achieve project success.
* Oversee contract administration, safety compliance, and quality assurance processes.
* Transition projects from construction to operation and maintenance with efficiency and precision.
* Represent the Council in discussions with consultants, contractors, and developers while negotiating agreements.

What you'll need to succeed
To excel in this role, you will need:
* Qualifications & Certifications: A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and registration as a Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ).
* Experience: Extensive demonstrated experience in civil engineering and public works project management, ideally in a local government setting.
* Leadership Skills: Proven ability to oversee multidisciplinary teams and external contractors effectively.
* Licences: A current Queensland Class 'C' Driver Licence and a General Construction Induction Card (White/Blue Card).
* Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of construction standards, public works contract administration, and compliance regulations.
* Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal skills to liaise with diverse stakeholders, promote collaboration, and ensure successful outcomes.
