Your role
Lead Youth Justice NSW’s approach to assessment, intervention and management of young people in custody and subject to community supervision. Oversee the development, endorsement, effectiveness and evaluation of intervention programs and initiatives for young people who offend.
Establish and drive ongoing consistent program and practice delivery across Youth Justice NSW through the Youth Justice Practice Guide, various operational instruments and tools, along with the suite of intervention programs.
What you’ll do
4. Lead the development, delivery and implementation of contemporary best-practice assessments, interventions, and management strategies for young people in custody or subject to community supervision.
5. Establish and monitor a system of practice governance, aligning Youth Justice NSW interventions and practice with contemporary international literature.
6. Provide strategic oversight and management of the practices and skills adopted by Youth Justice as endorsed ways of working.
7. Oversee the Youth Justice Practice Guide to ensure it remains current and is embedded in all elements of Youth Justice operations.
8. Coordinate systems and processes for training to be embedded in the day-to-day practice of the Youth Justice workforce.
9. Monitor delivery environments and the agreements specifying the type of programs to be offered, the category of young offenders assessed for participation and the resource allocation at centres or community offices.
10. Provide high level policy advice to the Youth Justice Executive and other senior staff in relation to best-practice intervention standards, models and approaches for young people who offend.
11. Resubmit programs for mandated review following accreditation.
What we’re looking for
12. Relevant tertiary qualifications or extensive experience and background in the area of practice and program delivery to mandated clients.
13. Demonstrated experience or strong knowledge in practice implementation and evaluation.
14. Experience in practice and programs as they relate to Aboriginal clients or groups is highly desirable.
15. A current drivers licence.
16. Travel will be required.
17. Current NSW Working with Children Check clearance.
