Fixed-Term Part-Time
1. Fixed Term (Leave Relief) Part-Time (20 hours per week).
2. Classification: Staff Specialist Level 1 (Level election is optional)
3. Remuneration: $262,376 - $323,777 dependent on years of experience, plus superannuation, salary packaging
About the Role:
The Staff Specialist works within an inter-disciplinary team to ensure timely, appropriate care and effective discharge strategies. Duties will include patient care, supervision and teaching, continuing medical education, research and administration.
Key Responsibilities:
4. Clinical services for inpatients, Emergency presentations and outpatients.
5. Participate in after-hours services and provide consultative services to colleagues.
6. Support bed allocation, transfer of care and patient flow according to Hospital requirements.
7. Clinical leadership to junior colleagues, ensuring high standards of patient care and evidence-based practice.
8. Develop undergraduate teaching programs in liaison with the University of Newcastle and other learned bodies.
What you bring:
9. A Primary Medical Degree registrable with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency.
10. Understanding of the principles of clinical governance to promote quality and safety in health care.
11. Qualification(s) in General and Acute Care Medicine, and a commitment to rural Outreach programs.
12. Commitment to undergraduate and post-graduate teaching in medicine, nursing and allied health and willingness to participate in clinical research.
13. Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or other specialist recognition as provided for the NSW (Non-Declared) AHO Staff Specialist Agreement or the Health Insurance Act 1973.

Current employees of NSW Health can request to have various leave entitlement balances transferred to Calvary Mater Newcastle on commencement.
