Where the team fits in
This role sits in the Media Team, within the Advertising portfolio. The Media team helps consumers share, rent, buy, sell and enjoy property, by connecting them with all sorts of products and services to help them along their property journey. This includes finance products, utilities, home services, furnishings, automotive and many more innovative advertising and lead generation tools. The fast-growing Media business includes a cross-functional team from Product, IT, Sales, Marketing, PR and Communications, HR, Finance and Legal. We’re all about using digital solutions to make property and everything that supports consumers around property, simple, efficient and stress free.
This role has key strategic importance and visibility within the business. This is a unique role that will focus on delivering thought leadership in advertising technologies, designing innovative solutions, and helping teams leverage this to produce world class advertising products.
What the role is all about
As a Lead Developer, you will be leading the tech design and implementation on a program of work focused on migrating our AdTech tools and systems through the entire SDLC – from concept, discovery and requirements through specification, development, testing and release.
4. Thought leadership in buying ads, selling ads, and sharing data with advertising clients.
5. Contributing to the overall technical solution design and product direction, working with Tech Leads to ensure our solution is in line with our technical vision.
6. Informing delivery planning and technical design by providing a balanced view of options, effort, and quality considerations.
7. Working with the team leads to understand business priorities, express ideas and communicate technical options.
8. Helping clarify, plan and prepare work for the team.
9. Guiding the team throughout the development process and informing technical decisions.
10. Working in agile teams, where we rapidly adapt to the market and work widely with different product teams across REA.
11. Keeping abreast of the latest technology advancements to inform product and technical design.
12. Proactively contributing to the continuous improvement of products, technology, process, and team development.
13. Actively developing skills and experience through continual learning and evaluation.
14. Working with stakeholders to design high quality solutions that meet the needs of our users, including vendor platforms
Who we’re looking for
To set yourself up for success in this role you will have ideally gained experience in the following areas (helpful talent acquisition tip: you might want to make sure this is on your resume before you submit it):
15. A few runs on the board - you will ideally have 5+ years leading engineering teams.
16. Strong experience working with distributed and offshore development teams
17. A demonstrated ability to envision web-based services that meet client needs & solve business problems.
18. Active contribution and leading technical decision-making process
19. Coaching less experienced members of the team
20. Demonstrated experience with modern object oriented or functional programming practice in two or more of our programming languages – Scala, Java, Ruby, Python and JavaScript.
21. Strong experience in managing project schedule and working closely with DLs, BAs, PMs and product teams.
22. Proactively contribute to the continuous improvement of products, technology, process and team development
23. Experience working in the Media/AdTech industry is highly advantageous
