LifeSpan Specialists is a medical clinic that offers healthcare and support for elderly patients and adults with cognitive impairments. We are a well-established clinic of three practitioners that service patients from Northern NSW and the Gold Coast, particularly with Dementia.
We are seeking an experienced Medical Secretary for our clinic at the Medical Centre of John Flynn Private Hospital. This position will initially be a casual role, with conversion to a permanent position if desired after a successful probation period.
Job Description: Provide customer service face-to-face, over the phone, and online.Book appointments and organise multiple practitioner's schedules, tracking follow-up appointments, cancellations, changes in availability, etc.Receive, triage, and monitor daily correspondence including patient results, referrals, reports, information requests.Process payments, bill item numbers, and lodge claims to Medicare and DVA.Liaise with hospital wards, nursing homes, general practices, and other health practitioners.Handle confidential legal matters, such as medico-legal requests and communication with lawyers and authoritative bodies.Transfer medical reports and patient data into Medical Objects.Assist when needed in recording basic patient measurements, i.e. weight and blood pressure.Report to the off-site Practice Manager as needed.
To be successful in this role, you will: Display a high level of compassion and care towards elderly patients predominantly with declining mental abilities.Demonstrate experience in medical reception and secretarial duties.Excel in fast-paced, high-pressure work environments.Offer great time-management and organisation skills and prioritise your workload.Work autonomously and under limited supervision within established policies, guidelines and procedures.Adhere to our practice policies as well as our professional values.Be skilled in computer programs, i.e. Gentu Practice Management Software (or similar), Medical Objects, Microsoft Office, Google drive, Windows PCHours: 30-32 hours a week. Some days are flexible but Mondays and Wednesdays are a must.
