John Paul College has several exciting opportunities starting in Term One, 2025, for dedicated and innovative Industrial Technology and Design Technology teachers.
We are looking for educators who are committed to delivering engaging and practical learning experiences for secondary students in areas such as woodworking, metalworking, design processes, and emerging technologies.
These roles are essential in equipping students with real-world skills and fostering creativity, problem-solving, and technical expertise in alignment with our mission to Educate, Inspire, and Make a Difference.
Desired Skills and Experience
About You:
As a Secondary Teacher at John Paul College, you will be instrumental in shaping the skills and knowledge of our students through hands-on learning and thoughtful design instruction. These roles will require the successful candidates to:
* Support and embody the College Ethos, recognizing each student’s individual potential and fostering their development.
* Be a role model for best practices in teaching Industrial Technology and Design Technology subjects.
* Develop inclusive, innovative learning environments that inspire student engagement and achievement.
* Communicate effectively and foster positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
* Participate actively in the broader life of the College by attending staff meetings, curriculum development sessions, extracurricular activities, school camps, and community events.
Candidates will require:
* A commitment to the vision and values of John Paul College.
* Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Expertise in using technology and digital tools in the classroom, including CAD software and workshop equipment.
* Sound organizational and classroom management skills, with a focus on safety and student well-being in practical settings.
* Current Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) registration and a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC).
* A dedication to continuous professional development to remain at the forefront of educational practices in Industrial and Design Technology.
* One of the following qualifications:
o A Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education with a focus on Industrial Technology or Design Technology, or
o A Bachelor's Degree in Technology or Engineering plus a Teaching Qualification, or
o A Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), specializing in one of the following
+ Woodwork, Metalwork, or Engineering
+ Graphics or Design
+ Digital Technologies
+ STEM
