About the Directorate
The Information Technology Directorate leads the provision of state-of-the-art information and communications technologies to students and teachers in NSW government schools and DoE non-school staff across the state of NSW. We deliver and support ICT services for NSW public schools and departmental offices, involving the diagnosis and resolution of incidents and deployment of the department's standardised infrastructure, applications and cloud services.
About the role
To provide solutions for nearly a million students and staff, we need to be creative but structured to succeed in an enterprise with enormous scale. We are building a new team, and growing new services in research, innovation, and solution architecture to deliver out Digital Strategy, and we need your help to turn strategy into reality.
The Capability and Planning Manager will support the pipeline for new initiatives and work closely with business units across the department to assess their capabilities and assess change impacts of prioritisation (including variable scenarios). This role is a strategic position that seeks to align new initiatives and capabilities with the Department of Education Digital Strategy.
You will work closely with the Portfolio Centre of Excellence, as an SME on the Digital Strategy and the outcomes required to achieve. In this capacity you will guide decision making and work with projects to ensure the right capabilities, actions and outcomes are achieved to realise committed benefits.

Skills and Experience
·Experience conducting and documenting capability-based assessments.
·Experience performing capability-based planning and facilitating prioritisation.
·Knowledge mapping strategic objectives to initiatives.
·Experience crafting change management plans and communications to varied stakeholder groups.
·Knowledge translating business needs to solution requirements.
·Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s and upholding the and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
Essential requirements of the role
·Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education
·Tertiary qualification in science, engineering, business or ICT discipline or equivalent industry experience.
