About OricaAbout the roleWe are currently searching for Orica's nextPackaging Technicianat ourYarwunmanufacturing site located inGladstone, Queensland. This role will operate a 38-hour week, on a shift pattern working 4 days on, 6 days off with shifts of 12 hours and will be offered a 24-monthcontract.
Orica Yarwun manufactures nitric acid, ammonium nitrate and sodium cyanide products which are used in mining, infrastructure, agriculture, and water industries locally, nationally and internationally. Orica has operated at Yarwun for over 30 years and is committed to the health and safety of employees and minimising the impact of our manufacturing activities on the community and the environment.
ThePackaging Technicianwill be responsible for the operation of warehouse equipment and packaging the finished solid sodium cyanide product.
What you will be doingYou will be required to safety operate plant equipment and identify and diagnose faults as they arise;Meet the production targets of the plant by operating within guidelines of the operating instructions to minimise downtime;Assist the Shift Facilitator with the day to day running of the packaging plant;Prepare the plant for both scheduled and unscheduled plant maintenance;Active reporting of packaging area throughputs and faults requiring maintenance intervention;Improve on-line time of the plant by identifying and prioritising defects which may affect the operation of warehouse packaging equipment;Safely prepare the plant for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance access;Be a member of the operations team and be an active member in the emergency response team;Maintain effective communications between shifts.What you will bringOperations experience in heavy industry;High risk license for Forklift, EWP, dogger, basic rigger;Trade background in either mechanical or electrical maintenance is ideal;Experience in materials handling equipment and chemicals manufacturing;Emergency response skills are preferred. ie.
