What we are looking for: We have a new role for a Land and Leasing Specialist to lead the strategic management of Council's leasing and land portfolio. You will lead program planning and work allocation across the team, develop and implement processes, while also balancing strategic oversight with operational activities. You'll be instrumental in guiding the team to drive innovation, navigate change, and maintain a positive and supportive team culture. What your day will look like: Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Council's leasing, land tenure and property portfolio. Lead the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and best practices for land and leasing management. Develop and manage the program's budget. Lead negotiation of new and renewed tenure arrangements. Draft, negotiate and administer appropriate legal contracts to give effect to property transactions. Research, interpret and apply legislation to provide informed advice, guidance and support, including but not limited to the Local Government Act 2009 (Qld) and accompanying Regulations. What you'll need for success: Tertiary qualifications (AQF level 7 or above) in a relevant discipline (property or legal related discipline) and/or equivalent experience in a relevant field. Extensive knowledge of the legislative and regulatory frameworks relevant to leasing arrangements, land management and property transactions. Ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders, communicate complex information clearly and persuasively, and negotiate favourable outcomes in land and leasing contexts. Solid conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills in a specialist technical environment. Extensive experience in producing reports, correspondence and briefing material for senior stakeholders. Proven experience in leading, mentoring, and developing a team of professionals. What's nice to have: Experience in leasing arrangements, property transactions and land tenure management within a local government or similar environment. Awareness and understanding of Native Title and Aboriginal Cultural Heritage land management.
