The organisation is currently located in Coburg whilst refurbishing a new building that will be their permanent head office in South Melbourne in early 2025. The team has a track record of delivering luxury commercial and residential developments, plus extensive experience developing healthcare, education aged care and social housing facilities in metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.As a privately owned business with a long track record of success, we are seeking an experienced finance leader to join the business to complement existing tax and advisory services provided by KPMG’s Private Enterprise team in Melbourne. We require an accomplished accounting professional who is capable of reporting directly to business owners. The role lends itself to someone not afraid of getting their hands dirty in the detail at times but is also able to be a commercial business partner to a high net wealth group of owners with extensive property and construction interests.The role is the perfect opportunity for a Financial Controller/CFO or leader looking to work closely with high net wealth business owners, and potentially someone breaking free from the rigours of a larger corporate employer or leaving a public practice accounting firm at Senior Manager/Director level. Using their accounting credentials, the Head of Finance will further develop a robust financial reporting function that provides owners with accurate, timely and insightful data. Concurrently, they will also be a business partner to the Directors on job costing and forecasting, vendor management, procurement, IT and HR.The roleResponsibilities of the Head of Finance will include, but not be limited to:Preparation of monthly financial accounts & periodic cash flow reports;Ownership of management accounting for the business including preparation of monthly management reports & analysis of variances;Management of the payroll, AP and Debtor management processes, including line management of the accounts team (3 people);Family office responsibilities with Directors and funds flowing to SMSFs and investment advisors;Project reporting across multiple sites to track profitability and performance;Coordinating regulatory lodgement requirements including BAS, Payroll Tax, FBT, GST, Income Tax & WorkCover;Assistance with annual budgeting process;Commercial analysis of future site acquisitions & feasibilities;Management of insurance policies across the group;Assisting with managing the outsourced IT support requirements across the group.Ideal backgroundTo be successful in securing this role, you will possess:An undergraduate degree in Accounting / Commerce.Full membership of CAANZ or CPA Australia.10+ years’ experience in a Financial Controller/CFO role including leading teams and being accountable to business owners.Commercial and financial leadership experience within property or construction related businesses.Strong understanding of key business functions including project management, sales, HS&E, property facility management and manufacturing.The resilience, tenacity and application of change management principles to succeed in developing and improving risk management frameworks, financial models and financial reporting standards.Demonstrated experience in successfully leading a finance team.The highest standards of professionalism, integrity and ethics pursuant to the responsibilities of the position and being a representative of such a recognisable and high-quality organisation.Excitement at the challenge of working in a privately owned business, and embrace the opportunity to build for the future and directly influence the owners of the organisation.Outstanding interpersonal skills, with an ability to develop and build rapport instantly with people.Experience with MYOB, Xero and Procore software are all desirable.TWH Advisory have been appointed as the retained consultant to our client on this role.
