We are seeking a highly organized and friendly individual to join Qualitas Medical Practice North Sydney as a casual medical receptionist. As the first point of contact for patients, you will play a vital role in ensuring their experience is positive and efficient. Your responsibilities will include greeting patients, scheduling appointments, managing phone calls, maintaining patient records, and providing excellent customer service. The ideal candidate should have excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced medical environment. Availability: 2 days a week: Friday and Saturday. Experience: minimum 6 months Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong organizational skills with attention to detail Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously Proficient computer skills (MS Office Suite) Basic knowledge of medical terminology is preferred but not required Exceptional customer service skills Ability to maintain confidentiality Responsibilities: Greet patients warmly upon arrival and ensure they feel comfortable throughout their visit. Schedule appointments accurately using the practice's electronic scheduling system. Answer phone calls promptly and assist callers with inquiries or direct them to the appropriate staff member. Manage patient records by updating personal information accurately in the electronic database. Verify insurance coverage for new patients and update insurance information for existing patients. Collect co-payments or outstanding balances from patients at check-in or check-out as necessary. Maintain cleanliness and organization of reception area including stocking brochures/pamphlets if required. Collaborate with medical staff regarding any changes in appointment schedules or urgent patient needs. Handle incoming/outgoing mail efficiently including sorting correspondence/documents as needed. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; additional education/training in healthcare administration is a plus. Experience working in customer service roles is preferred but not mandatory. Familiarity with medical terminology and practices is desirable but not required. Proficient in using computers and electronic health records systems. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, staff, and external parties. Ability to maintain composure under pressure while providing exceptional customer service.
