About the role
The Traffic and Transport Engineering Coordinator oversees the functions of the Traffic and Transport Engineering Section, including the Local Traffic Committee, Black Spot identification and analysis, active transport and parking. You will lead a team of professionals to provide Council, the public and developers with expert advice on traffic and transport issues, including the coordination of programs for traffic management and road safety improvements. The role also provides strategic direction on land use planning initiatives, including major road infrastructure projects to deliver improved transport outcomes for the Penrith LGA.
Essential criteria
* A tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or related field.
* Extensive knowledge and experience in all aspects of local traffic engineering and transport planning.
* A sound knowledge of traffic legislation and procedures, and statutory instruments, including the Australian Road Rules, Austroads, Australian Standards and TfNSW supplements.
* Well-developed leadership and team management skills.
* Experience in assessing land use planning analysis/reports and development referrals for major traffic generating developments.
* Experience in providing a senior advisory role to others, both inside and outside Council.
* Well-developed verbal and written communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
* Current Class C Driver Licence.
Commencing salary: $125,617.00 - $145,407.00 per annum, plus 11.5% Superannuation and a 3.5% Civil Liability Allowance in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award.
Access to a Leaseback Vehicle or Motor Vehicle Allowance is available with this position; however, it is not a condition of employment.
