We are seeking a passionate and experienced Emergency and Critical Care Nurse Team Leader to join our dynamic team and lead our emergency nursing staff.Our hospital is a state of the art purpose-built 24-hour ECC and referral facility. More importantly, we have the only truly multi-disciplinary specialist veterinary team in Victoria, including specialists in Emergency and Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Diagnostic Imaging, Neurology and Anaesthesia.Our specialist-led ECC department has a focus on teamwork, honesty, kindness and patient care, and we pride ourselves on adhering to these values. We look after each other first, so we can look after our patients and clients.Position Overview:As the Emergency Nurse Team Leader, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating the emergency nursing team to ensure the delivery of high-quality care to our patients. You will be responsible for providing leadership, support, and guidance to our nursing staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment, and ensuring efficient workflow within the emergency department.The role will include both management and clinical work and can be personalised to suit the individual skills and interests of the successful candidate. You will work closely and collaboratively with the veterinary leadership team and senior nursing team.This is a full-time position, but a part-time role would be considered for the right applicant.Key Responsibilities:Lead and supervise the emergency nursing team, including roster management, performance evaluation, and professional developmentWork with the ECC Head of Department and senior leadership team to creatively prevent and resolve management and clinical concernsCoordinate and prioritize patient care to ensure timely and effective delivery of emergency nursing servicesProvide hands-on nursing care to patients during high-volume periods or complex casesEnsure adherence to hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirementsCollaborate with veterinarians, specialists, and other members of the healthcare team to optimize patient outcomesWork closely with the surgery, neurology, diagnostic imaging and medicine team leaders to facilitate inter-departmental cohesion and seamless clinic workflowAct as a mentor and resource for nursing staff, facilitating ongoing education and training initiativesParticipate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the advancement of emergency nursing practiceAbout You:Cert IV in Vet Nursing or equivalentMinimum of 3 years of experience in emergency and critical care nursing, with demonstrated leadership experienceExcellent clinical skills and knowledge of emergency nursing practices and proceduresStrong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skillsA creative outlook and ability to think outside the boxA demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a high-performance teamAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environmentCommitment to continuous learning and professional developmentFlexibility to work a rotating roster, including nights, weekends, and public holidaysCompetitive salary commensurate with experienceOpportunities for career advancement and professional growth within a leading veterinary organizationSupportive and collaborative work environmentAccess to continuing education programs and resourcesEmployee discounts on veterinary services and productsHow to Apply:If you are passionate about emergency nursing and possess the leadership skills necessary to excel in this role, we want to hear from you!
