How You'll Make a Difference KWHB is looking for a full-time Child Health Nurse based in Katherine, NT, with travel to remote communities.
Reporting to the Manager, Maternal and Child Health, this role focuses on improving health outcomes for children aged 5-17 years, providing outreach services, education, and immunisation support. The ideal candidate will have a passion for adolescent health, community outreach, and preventative healthcare.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Conducting health assessments and delivering targeted child health services in remote communitiesWorking closely with families to improve access to primary healthcare servicesEducating clinicians and providing guidance on child health checks and immunisationsBuilding strong relationships with the community to encourage participation in healthcare servicesSupporting children with high health needs and working in a trauma-informed mannerConducting health education sessions in schools and community groups on various health topicsParticipating in case conferences and collaborating with multidisciplinary teamsAssisting in data collection and reporting for quality improvement initiativesWhat You'll Bring to the Team To be considered, you must be a Registered Nurse (RN) eligible for registration with AHPRA. While a postgraduate qualification in child health is desirable, we welcome applications from experienced RNs passionate about transitioning into child and community health.
Additionally, you will need:
Experience in community outreach, health promotion, or remote area nursingAn understanding of Aboriginal health, social determinants of health, and trauma-informed careStrong interpersonal skills to build relationships with families and clinical teamsA flexible and adaptable nature to respond to the evolving needs of the communityA current NT Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card) and Criminal History Check (or ability to obtain)A manual NT Driver's Licence (or ability to obtain) and willingness to travel frequentlyBe Rewarded In addition to a competitive salary (RAN1: $120,113 | RAN3: $129,042) + superannuation, you will receive a range of generous benefits, including:
