What will I be doing
This role is part of the Service Operations and Infrastructure Group and involves liaising with business customers, various IT departments, service providers, vendors and strategic partners. The role is responsible for providing technical leadership and ongoing operational oversight of Woolworths’ significant enterprise computing operations landscape. As an experienced IT professional in all aspects of Windows and Linux Operating environments, you will be heavily involved in setting operational standards for these services and ensuring that our support partners adhere to these standards. You will bring your existing expertise in this area and take ownership of the ongoing availability, maintenance, and performance of these systems within Woolworths’ large Multi Cloud environment.
As an experienced IT professional, you will be heavily involved in support, management, administration, automation, maintenance and continuous improvement of the Compute Operations and Configurations that run within Woolworths’s Multi Cloud environments. Leveraging our relationships with strategic partners, you will ensure best practices are followed, promoting automation and proactive activities, as well as overall stability and handling of support escalations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide Operational oversight of Windows Servers, RedHat, SUSE and Oracle Enterprise Linux Servers across various versions.
* Oversee key supporting services underpinning our Compute environment.
* Ensuring stability and availability of our strategic workloads and their configuration to baselines.
* Collaborate with engineering teams to develop and drive platform improvements.
* ITIL service operations responsibility for Woolworths server environments including risk and issue, incident, problem, availability, capacity, performance and change management.
* Maintain and ensure the smooth running of Woolworths’ compute platform, including continual service improvement and lifecycle management of operating systems.
* Service transition of new and changed services into BAU Operations.
* Maintain a culture of customer service and satisfaction, with responsiveness to customer needs and proactive attention to business and technical requirements.
* Manage escalations hierarchically and process related.
* Manage the delivery of support services provided by IT service providers.
* Provide after-hours support as required.
* Contribute to continuous improvement within the Service Operations and Infrastructure area
What will I bring?
* A strong background in Wintel and Linux operating systems (professional certifications are highly regarded).
* A desire to automate, codify, and continuously improve all aspects of the work environment.
* Sound understanding of ‘Infrastructure as Code’ (IaC) and ‘Configuration as Code’.
* Five years of relevant experience in managing enterprise services at scale.
* Proven understanding of hosting platforms on VMware, Azure, and GCP public and private platforms.
* Strong IT service operations background (ITIL experience highly regarded).
* Experience working in a multi-sourced environment and a strong track record operating in large enterprise hosting and cloud environments.
