What’s the role? The award-winning Sunshine Coast Daily is looking for a confident and experienced media professional to lead the newsroom. The best candidate will have demonstrated leadership qualities, be skilled in developing key contacts, be eager to set the news agenda, and be full of fresh ideas for digital strategies and campaigns on issues that resonate with readers. The masthead relaunched a successful weekly print product, so while focusing on digital-first storytelling and online engagement, the ability to put together in-depth packages for a print audience is also required. About the role: This position will be based in Sunshine Coast Oversee the sourcing and creation of compelling content across print and digital platforms Drive a content strategy that drives new and connects with existing audiences across multiple platforms Work under deadline pressure in a fast-paced newsroom environment Mentor, manage, and motivate journalists to deliver unique quality content that drives conversation and reader engagement Understand digital data and use it in planning quality content Collaborate with the Courier Mail on relevant content and partner with other regional teams within the division to deliver state-wide outcomes Set the tone in the newsroom and create a positive and productive working environment to help journalists perform at their best Who are you? Strong digital newsroom leader with exceptional news judgment Extensive previous reporting and newsroom experience.
