Are you an experienced HR professional with a passion for sustainability and the environment? Join our dynamic team as a Human Resources Officer focused on Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO) services. This 6-month contract position offers an exciting opportunity to support and strengthen the HR function within a fast-paced, environmentally-conscious organization.
You will play a key role in overseeing HR processes, recruitment, employee engagement, and compliance within our Food Organics and Garden Organics operations. The successful candidate will bring strong HR expertise, recruitment, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to supporting a sustainable future.
Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment & Onboarding: Manage the end-to-end recruitment process for FOGO roles, including job postings, screening, interviews, and the onboarding of new employees. Employee Relations: Foster a positive workplace culture by addressing employee concerns, resolving conflicts, and promoting effective communication across teams. Training & Development: Support employee development initiatives and coordinate training programs to ensure staff are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in FOGO operations. Compliance & Policies: Ensure adherence to HR policies, legal requirements, and safety regulations related to environmental operations and sustainability practices. Performance Management: Assist in performance appraisals, employee feedback, and creating development plans to enhance individual and team performance. Administrative Support: Maintain accurate employee records, prepare reports, and support HR-related administrative functions. Key Requirements:
Proven experience in HR, with a background in recruitment, employee relations, and policy management. Council expiration will be highly regarded but not essential. Knowledge of sustainability initiatives, particularly in the areas of waste management, food organics, and garden organics (FOGO), is highly desirable but not essential. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Strong understanding of employment law and HR best practices. A proactive, solution-focused approach to managing HR issues. Qualifications:
A degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Previous HR experience, preferably in environmental, sustainability, or public sector roles. Proficiency in HRIS software and Microsoft Office Suite. Why Join Us?
