The mine is a deep, sub-level open stoping operation with complex mining conditions.
The Rosebery Mine has been at the heart of the Rosebery community since 1936 and is one of Tasmania's largest and oldest continuously operating, underground mines producing zinc, copper and lead concentrates, as well as gold doré.
It supports approximately 500 employees and their families, has a strong community focus and engages a wide range of local businesses from across Tasmania in its supply chain boosting the economy of the West Coast of Tasmania and beyond.
The mine has a strong future, with extensive exploration activities which have continued to grow the resource and require mine planning beyond 10 years of continued operation.
MMG Rosebery has an office in Burnie (Tasmania), giving employees the flexibility to work from there when they are not required onsite.
Fixed Plant Mechanical Fitters Fantastic career opportunities available for suitably qualified Fixed Plant Mechanical Fitters to join our team at Rosebery in Tasmania.
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this role is responsible to ensure maintenance tasks and activities are carried out in accordance with planned maintenance schedules and undertake production activities as required.
Key Accountabilities: Maintain all areas of the fixed plant including crushing, grinding, flotation and filtration; this includes servicing, fault finding, repair and commissioning.
Identify root cause of failure and generate improvement strategies.
Identify and evaluate non-conformances and provide support to develop corrective actions for continuous improvement to aspects of plant operations, safety, maintenance, equipment's utilisation and effectiveness Assist with the implementation of management systems for processes, with the objective of minimising process variation and exceeding customer requirements Provide skills, knowledge and experience to assist in the development of surface preventative maintenance schedules Carry our asset repairs and upgrades daily and in shutdowns, as preventative maintenance and inspections, in particular with issues that affect metallurgical performance Use of computerised maintenance management systems (SAP).
Support the Plant Outages – as required Actively participate in the Maintenance team to support and promote agreed decisions of the team.

Mechanical Fitter Trade Qualification (Essential) Forklift Licence (Desirable), EWP & CN Crane Tickets (Desirable) Senior First Aid Certificate (Desirable) Drivers licence.
Minimum of 3 years post Trade qualification experience in a mining environment or in a heavy industrial environment Demonstrated experience maintaining, processing fixed plant equipment (including diagnosis and fault finding) Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
Excellent problem-solving skills, time management and attention to detail.
Exposure to mining systems and applications, experience using SAP (desirable) A proven history with safe work practises, with the ability to identify and address unsafe practices.
