The Emissions Reduction Division (ERD) develops and implements Australia's domestic policies and programs to achieve at least 43% reductions in emissions (vs 2005 levels) by 2030, and net zero by 2050. Our work spans the economy, with particular focus on the industrial, transport, agricultural, and land sectors, and we work closely with colleagues in the Energy group. Our strategies and advice are complemented by the division's oversight and policy advice for the Clean Energy Regulator. The Division also delivers the National Greenhouse Accounts and emissions projections, which inform the design and track the effectiveness of domestic climate action and progress towards our targets. The key duties of the position include: Developing international climate or clean energy strategy and policy and navigating Government processes to deliver outcomes. Leading the negotiation, design, and delivery of bilateral and regional partnerships, including managing funding programs. Representing the Australian Government and leading Australia's engagement in multilateral and bilateral forums with industry and civil society stakeholders. Leading a team to develop and provide strategic policy advice on new methods under the Australian Carbon Credit Unit (ACCU) Scheme, particularly in the land sector, and to maintain existing methods. Leading a team to progress policy reforms to bolster the integrity of the ACCU Scheme. Undertaking widespread consultation across Government and industry, building trusted stakeholder relationships. Managing the planning and delivery of events with an international climate focus, in both domestic and international settings. Undertaking and coordinating procurements, grants, contracts, project management activities and/or the development of communications products. Liaising with a range of diverse national and international groups and stakeholders. Working closely with relevant leads within the department, broader Australian Government, and international partners to ensure alignment of approaches. Providing specialist advice and updates as appropriate to internal and external stakeholders, the Executive and the Minister/s. Minimum Requirements: Citizenship: You must be an Australian citizen to be eligible for employment with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water. Security Clearance: This position requires a baseline security clearance. You will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
