About the role The Specialist MRI Radiographer is responsible to the Head Radiographer for providing a specialist imaging service across the full range of procedures within the Medical Imaging MRI Unit at Flinders Medical Centre. The Specialist Radiographer operates specialised equipment to perform diagnostic imaging examinations for clients/patients across the full range of MRI specialities of medicine using high levels of professional judgement. The Specialist Radiographer contributes to clinical outcomes by providing services that form the basis of patient diagnosis and subsequent treatment and management by radiologists, referring clinicians and surgeons. They undertake complex procedures applying professional knowledge across a broad range of imaging procedures, including sub-specialty areas of Cardiac, Breast, Neonatal, Paediatric, often requiring innovative scanning methods without professional direction. The role involves training of other MRI radiographers through reviewing and updating training manuals and conducting one to one training. This role is a multi-skilled role with clinical practice duties in other Imaging areas required on a rotating basis. Essential Requirements: Current National Police Clearance (NPC) Working With Children Check (DHS) Immunisation screening as indicated in the role description. Educational/Vocational Qualifications: Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification, which entitles a statement of accreditation in Diagnostic Radiography from the Australian Institute of Radiography, or its recognised equivalent (up to July 2012) and then registration with the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia (post July 2012).
