Reuters is looking for an experienced trader or analyst to cover the foreign exchange market for professional clients of the Reuters FXBuzz service as part of a global team. We’re seeking someone who knows the foreign exchange market inside-out and can generate original, high-level ideas on the direction of currencies.
Based in Sydney, the Senior FX Analyst will cover AUD/USD, EUR/USD, other majors and Asian emerging markets currencies traded in that time zone, contributing intra-day updates in bullets with charts and short-form commentaries, along with content to the market conversation in our live chat room.
The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of foreign exchange and other financial markets, technical analysis as well as factors that influence currencies, including interest rates, commodities, central banks and risk sentiment.
Writing experience is important and a track record of source building would be highly useful to the candidate.
About the role
As our Senior FX Analyst, FXBuzz, Sydney you will:
* Cover the majors and select emerging markets currencies.
* Write short, intra-day market updates in bulleted format with accompanying charts.
* Generate original analysis for well-argued, forward-looking commentaries about market direction.
* Develop compelling charts to tell market stories.
* Build a strong network of market sources.
* Write longer-form analyses when asked.
About You
To be our Senior FX Analyst, FXBuzz, Sydney you will likely have:
* At least seven years trading, strategy or research experience in the FX market at a bank, broker or other financial institution, with in-depth knowledge of the Australian dollar, economy and markets, as well as the euro and other major currencies.
* Strong communication skills.
* The ability to write about complex financial topics in clear, concise English.
* Advanced skills in technical and fundamental analysis and the ability to create and interpret FX technical charts.
* Deep knowledge of markets, investor flows, macroeconomics and policymaking, with ability to make strong calls based on rigorous analysis.
* The skills and knowledge needed to step in and cover a variety of G10 currencies, rates markets, and central banks, as well as Asia ex-Japan markets when required.
* The ability to work independently in a real-time news environment and collaborate closely within a team spread across three Asian countries and a global team of analysts across different financial centers and time zones.
* Deep understanding of the foreign exchange market and its influences.
* The ability to write quickly about a wide range of currencies and the factors affecting them and to contribute to a weekly report on upcoming events and data.
* Deep market contacts.
* Public speaking, media or presentation experience are a plus
