What is a Domestic Assistance Worker?
Hume's Domestic Assistance Workers are client facing staff that provide domestic assistance services to support our community members that require some extra assistance who are:
1. People with disabilities
2. Elderly residents
3. Families of residents with complex needs
Tasks are limited to Domestic Assistance, including house cleaning, laundry, bedlinen changing, and shopping assistance.
Domestic Assistance Workers work with clients and their carers to achieve their identified goals, enhance independence and optimise quality of life.
About You
This very flexible position is perfect for candidates looking to join or re-enter the workforce on a part time basis. Training will be provided to successful candidates to ensure they are fully able to succeed in the role.
Domestic Assistance Workers are caring and community minded, with a genuine passion for people and a strong desire to help those in need. You will be a clear communicator and be able to manage your own time effectively. The most successful Domestic Assistance Workers have a keen eye for detail and are able to manage themselves in both physically and emotionally demanding situations.
At Hume, our Domestic Assistance Workers key responsibilities and skills determining the key selection criteria comprise of but not limited to:
4. Desire to work in the community in a supportive and hands on role.
5. Good oral communication skills and demonstrated ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
6. Current Victorian Driver's Licence
7. Current and Valid Police and Working with Children Check
Why do we need you?
The Health and Community Wellbeing department at Hume is looking for Domestic Assistance Workers to work with residents who are eligible to receive support from the following programs:
8. Home and Community Care Program for Younger People (HACC PYP),
9. Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) services and
10. Home Care Package (HCP) Services to assist eligible clients.
We are seeking passionate and committed Domestic Assistance Workers to join our Aged and Disability Services. As a Domestic Assistance Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting Hume's older residents and younger people with a disability, assisting them to live active, engaged and independent lives. As a Domestic Assistance Worker at Hume City Council, you will provide, high quality Domestic Assistance.
