Our client is well-known and highly regarded in the transport and logistics industry specialising in road, rail, sea and warehousing operations. Due to growth we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Accounts Payable Officer to join their team.
The Accounts Payable Officer is responsible for the effective and efficient workflow and performance of the Accounts Payable function. Duties may include but are not limited to overseeing all Accounts Payable processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency of operations and reporting on the Accounts Payable performance to the Financial Controller. You will have a high attention to detail and the ability to effectively and efficiently plan, organise, prioritise and complete tasks within deadline.
The role:
* Oversee the entire accounts payable process, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
* Review and approve invoices, expense reports, and payment requests.
* Ensure timely and accurate processing of payments.
* Identify areas for process automation and optimization to improve efficiency.
* Work with other departments, such as procurement and finance, to streamline workflows.
* Implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce manual tasks and errors.
* Maintain and enhance relationships with vendors and suppliers.
* Resolve payment disputes and discrepancies in a timely manner.
* Negotiate payment terms and agreements with vendors as necessary.
* Prepare and analyse accounts payable reports, including aging reports and payment forecasts.
* Reconcile accounts payable ledgers with general ledger accounts.
* Collaborate with the finance team to support month-end and year-end closing processes.
What we’re looking for:
* Minimum 3 years experience in a similar fast-paced and high volume role (you’ll be processing approx. 300 invoices per week)
* Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Business Administration or equivalent previous work experience
* Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, fair credit practices and collection regulations
* Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
* Hands-on experience in operating spreadsheets and accounting software (MYOB, SAP, Translogix)
* Highly motivated self starter eager to learn and adapt
* Strong ability to communicate both verbal and written
* A positive can-do attitude
* Highly organised and focused
* Reliable and eager to succeed
