Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR)SES Band 1 - Assistant Secretary, Various Positions (Identified)Adelaide SA, Brisbane QLD, Canberra ACT, Darwin NT, Hobart TAS, Melbourne VIC, Perth WA, Sydney NSWThe Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR) supports people to have safe, secure and well-paid work with the skills for a sustainable future.We contribute to efforts across government to foster a resilient, innovative, and inclusive labour market, and work to support people into safe, secure, and well-paid jobs that meet the needs of employees, employers, and industry.The key duties of the position include:We are looking for talented leaders to join four of DEWR's divisions across the five roles as stated below:A.Workforce Australia for Business Division: This division engages with employers, industries, and communities to deliver workforce policy and programs, placing people at the centre of everything we do.1) Assistant Secretary - Local Labour Markets Branch: You will be a key member of the department's leadership team, leading the newly established Local Labour Markets Branch.You will lead the Group's outreach and partnerships with communities, to build more inclusive and dynamic local labour markets.This role is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of place-based approaches to employment, delivering programs such as the Local Jobs Program, Harvest Trail Services, Workforce Specialists and the APS Employment Facilitators, as well as supporting broader education and capacity building for Employment Facilitators who operate across the 51 Employment Regions in Australia.You will also oversee Y Careers, National Priority Fund contract management, as well as procurement, finance and oversight of the Local Jobs Fund.B.Employment Strategy and Policy Division: This division leads employment services system policy development, including whole of system reform and stakeholder engagement strategy with a view to improve employment outcomes through a strengths-based approach for people who have barriers to employment.2) Assistant Secretary - Employment System Strategy Branch: You will be a key member of the department's leadership team, working on employment services reform.This role is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of leading and coordinating the policy and program design work happening across the Employment and Workforce Group towards reforming Australia's employment services system.This includes setting out the plan for reform, ensuring policy coherence across employment service reform measures both within the department and across Government, and providing governance, financial modelling and stakeholder support to facilitate reforms.C.Workforce Australia Provider Support Division: This division is responsible for strong working relationships with providers, employers, industry associations, and key Commonwealth, state/territory and local governments.The Division works closely with policy areas and employment services providers to implement the department's range of services and initiatives.3) Assistant Secretary - Employment Services Programs Branch: You will be responsible for leading the Employment Services Programs Branch, which is responsible for managing operational policy and program delivery for employment programs.This includes Workforce Australia, Transition to Work, Broome Employment Services and Norfolk Island Employment Services.This role will work closely across the Employment and Workforce Group, supporting the successful delivery of these programs and you will provide high level advice and support to our Ministers as required.D.Workforce Australia for Individuals Division: This division is responsible for managing and delivering online and tailored services for individuals engaging with employment services, including those on income support.4) Assistant Secretary - Strategic Program Office Branch: You will lead an Employment and Workforce Group embedded capability.This branch delivers enterprise-wide strategy and transformation, future systems development and funding opportunities, New Policy Proposal and business case development and program and project management functions to ensure successful delivery of key project work and enhance the Department's digital service offer.5) Assistant Secretary - Activities and Experience Branch: You will be a key member of the department's leadership team responsible for managing and delivering online and tailored services for individuals, including those on income support.This Branch oversees individual servicing arrangements for Workforce Australia Online;
