You will be open to turning your hand at a few different things (we are a multi-skilled bunch) and enjoy a great social team environment in which we share success of working on great projects. You will also enjoy our brand-new dedicated microscope laboratory, equipped with top of the range compound and dissecting microscopes and a full-window view of the outside world. Our team of invertebrate specialists and career ecologists include staff across all junior, senior and management levels who will be there to support you in the responsibilities and tasks listed below.Key ResponsibilitiesYou will be confident in your technical ability and have a positive attitude to do the following tasks:Providing high quality service and advice in your area of expertise to clients and colleagues, in both office based and fieldwork activitiesParticipate in field survey programs to collect a variety of different ecological data focusing on SRE invertebratesInterpretation and application of environmental legislation and technical guidance to projects across a variety of different sectorsDevelopment of technical reports detailing the outcomes of field survey programs and implications for environmental impact assessment and managementAssisting in preparing tenders and proposalsIntegrating your technical work into multidisciplinary assessments and project teamsMake independent studies, analyses, interpretations, conclusions and decisions and prepare reports outlining the findings of these studiesTravel to remote areas, including interstate, to conduct field survey programsTraining junior staff in collection and processing of SRE invertebrate specimensSkills and experienceThe successful candidate must have:An appropriate tertiary qualification in Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Natural Resources or in another related field2-6+ years' experience in an ecological role in the environmental consulting sector or an equivalent role in government or academia, including undertaking SRE invertebrate surveys and report productionExperience in the design and implementation of SRE invertebrate field surveys and monitoring programsExcellent SRE invertebrate identification skillsExperience in preparing invertebrate specimens for submission to taxonomic experts and the WA MuseumMature report writing and computer skills, with demonstrated ability to prepare high quality written material for publicationProven ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple tasksProven project management experience in relation to client management and budget controlDesired experienceThe following criteria are beneficial but not required for the role:Experience in the interpretation of molecular data for invertebrate species identificationExperience with subterranean fauna survey and reportingOur BenefitsOur culture is unique where we work together to collaborate on projects to get the best possible outcome for our clients.
