Your responsibilities will span both departmental strategy and operations, including framework development, project planning, financial modeling, research, and analysis. This role positions you at the very heart of the business, collaborating closely with Strategy & Operations peers, as well as company and departmental leadership. This is an exceptional opportunity for a gritty, entrepreneurial problem solver able to toggle between strategy and execution. This role will provide frequent exposure to Flex Founders and Executive Team, giving hands-on experience of what it takes to lead and operate a world-class consumer fintech.As the Strategy & Operations lead deployed to our Engineering organization, you’ll help drive execution across Flex’s technology roadmap, ensuring strong alignment between engineering initiatives, business priorities, and company strategy. In partnership with our Chief Technology Officer (CTO), you’ll build and manage the right rituals to track engineering quality and productivity, optimize resource allocation, and facilitate collaboration across Product, Finance, Risk and other key stakeholders.What You’ll DoPartner with the CTO and engineering leadership to define long-term engineering strategy and translate it into near-term execution plans and KPIsDevelop and implement foundational quality measurement frameworks, tracking key engineering health indicators such as bugs, incidents, reliability, and system performanceTrack and optimize engineering execution, ensuring alignment between technical priorities, business goals, and financial considerationsWork with the CTO on special projects, owning the end-to-end process from strategy development through cross-functional executionOwn the portfolio of engineering initiatives, building visibility around priorities, dependencies, and resource allocation and ensuring tight alignment with the Product organizationImprove development workflows, team efficiency, and cross-functional collaboration to help Engineering operate at maximum effectivenessProvide research and analytical decision support, surfacing key trade-offs and recommendations for senior leadershipHelp shape Engineering org design and hiring strategy, identifying gaps and optimizing team structure to support business needsDrive strategic conversations at the executive level, distilling complex technical progress into clear insights for leadershipContinuously seek opportunities to streamline costs, improve infrastructure efficiency, and optimize investments in technologyWho You AreIdeally 5+ years of relevant work experience (e.g., management consulting, technical consulting, technical product management, engineering operations/strategy, start-up role in strategy, biz ops, or chief of staff function)Experience in or exposure to high-growth tech/fintech companies, particularly in engineering-heavy environmentsUnderstanding of software development processes, engineering team dynamics, and technical product lifecycles (no coding required, but a strong operational/strategic grasp of engineering is critical)Highly entrepreneurial and adaptable, excited by the challenge of structuring and optimizing fast-moving engineering teamsAble to drive results through influence, working across Engineering, Product, Finance, and Executive teams to move initiatives forwardComfortable navigating ambiguous and complex technical problem sets with a structured and analytical approachFast thinker and problem solver, with a high degree of intellectual curiosity and the ability to synthesize large amounts of data quicklyExceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate engineering concepts into business impact for executivesFinancial modeling and analytical skills to support resource allocation, budgeting, and investment decisions within EngineeringThe compensation range for this role will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and Flex's internal leveling guidelines and benchmarks. For working locations in NY/NJ/CA, the base salary pay range will be $196,000 - $213,000.
